Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta rallied from the brink of defeat to win the women’s doubles title in Melbourne.
Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko had led by a set and 4-1 before the Dulko-Pennetta combination came storming back to win 2-6 7-5 6-1.
Dulko and Pennetta won seven doubles titles last year, including a 17-match winning streak and appearances at the quarter-finals of all the Grand Slams.
And they showed their quality as rattled off six of the next seven games to level the match before breaking Azaranka and Kirilenko three times in the final set.
“Last year was a great year, this year we are starting really good,” Pennetta said.
